About Us
Abec’s Small Business Review (ASBR) is a freely distributed, monthly publication that began as the Toledo Business Review in December 2006. In 2009, ASBR began developing editions for other cities, and changed its name to reflect expansion into new markets.
In March 2009, ASBR started a second edition in Ann Arbor, followed by two editions in the Columbus area in June 2009. The Columbus NW edition serves the communities of Upper Arlington, Hilliard, Dublin, Worthington and Powell. The Columbus NE serves Gahanna, New Albany and Westerville.
ASBR’s has a readership of mostly high-income, professional women and is designed to be interesting reading material with a small business theme for waiting rooms, such as in doctor’s offices, hair salons and auto service centers. ASBR is also placed where free publications can be found in restaurants and coffee shops.
We believe strongly that every small business owner has an inspiring story, and that they have a dream and a passion that they’ve turned into a business. Small business owners rarely have the opportunity to share their story with a large audience and with our print editions, online presence and email blasts we strive to provide that opportunity.
In November 2009, ASBR launched an upgraded website at www.abecssbr.com. Each edition will now have a homepage specifically set up to serve its community.
Small businesses will be able to submit press releases, and local professionals such as doctors, financial planners and other experts in their field will have the opportunity to contribute columns. This will provide another avenue for the small business owner to share their message with potential clients, customers and patients.
We encourage you to please continue to support your local small businesses. If you have learned more about their business from reading one of our stories, please let them know!
